Barkway Village Hall

Welcome to Barkway Village Hall

A friendly village hall in rural North Hertfordshire

The perfect venue for all sorts of events - business and pleasure

A former Women’s Institute opened in 1926, Barkway Village Hall has been sympathetically extended and modernised over the years. The main hall includes a stage (which can be extended) with lighting and sound system, a bar area, a big screen and projector and comfortable, cushioned seats. The kitchen, which includes industrial cooking and dishwashing equipment, has recently been extended. Off the main hall, the Committee Room is perfect for smaller meetings or as a “green room” for performances using the stage. It can be hired separately from the main hall. The Hall regularly hosts quizzes, film nights, private parties, sales, sports events including Karate and Zumba classes, wedding receptions and the annual Barkway pantomime. The Hall has disabled access and a hearing loop. Barkway Village Hall is managed by a committee of volunteers and is maintained through hire fees and fundraising. It is a registered charity (number 272922).

Hire Barkway

Village Hall

Why not hold your event at Barkway Village Hall? You’ll find our rates suprisingly favourable, and there are discounts for Barkway residents.
An update from the Hall The Village Hall has undergone some TLC during the period of enforced closure due to the Covid-19 crisis, and is ready for whatever the future has to offer. There's some new panelling to the rear of the building and also maintenance to the storage unit. The hall has benefited from a £10,000 grant made available by North Herts District Council, which is helping to finance the ongoing cost of maintaining the Hall. We are receiving guidance on the correct protocol to make the building available. The hall committee is eager to open the venue and planning for our annual quiz, so please save 28th November in your diary. Please come back to this web site for the latest news. The Hall is open for bookings and is COVID-secure Click here for more information.
